During my internship, I explored new UX problem spaces like politics, elections, and investing, while pushing myself to be boldly creative and learning from incredible people. From running user tests within a week to designing new user flows that guided readers to critical election coverage, I spent ten weeks collaborating with thoughtful UX researchers, Product Managers, and Designers to help launch multiple features for the 2024 US National elections.

The most valuable lessons I have from the internship are:
Managing multiple projects by setting priorities.
Especially during the election season, the timeline for certain project can be tight. I set up priorities based on the project timeline, user priorities, and business needs. Setting up priorities and sharing them during meetings also helped me be more flexible.
Bringing visuals is helpful when sharing ideas with cross-functional partners
By sharing low-fidelity explorations and visual references, I could better communicate with product managers, CX Director and VP.
Communicating and explaining to stakeholders who do not have a UX background.
Advocating for users and design in an editorial-driven company can be challenging. To prepare, I always spent the day before practicing my presentation and anticipating potential questions they might ask.
